When I first started this blog, my main focus as a 22-year-old was to post book-related content, with some personal writing in between. As this blog grew, however, my writing slowly evolved into something grander: travelogues, literary musings, and personal reflections—all while still orbiting around my love for storytelling.
I think that’s the reason why I have never once thought about changing my blog title. “Tale Enthusiast” has become even more fitting as this blog matures. I have always craved meaning behind even the simplest stories, which is why my more reflective posts usually start with a tiny detail before branching out into something more nostalgic or profound at their core.
Two years ago, I started a brand-new lifestyle blog called “Rolife Coaster”. It was not something I decided on a whim, since Tale Enthusiast was a literary passion project, and some of the posts I wanted to write about didn’t seem to fit there. I wanted to capture the highs and lows of life—but I also wanted to be more carefree with my words. After some consideration, Rolife Coaster was born as a medium for romanticizing the roller coaster that is life.
To this very day, although blogging hasn’t been my utmost priority lately, both blogs are still precious outlets that I tend to gravitate toward now and then. Scrolling through the archives feels like looking through a telescope at little pieces of my life. “I remember that feeling,” or “I was so stressed out back then,” and once there was also, “I used to feel this way? For real?”
It’s like a digital album filled with pictures I deeply cherish and words I personally wrote.
As I grow older, I realize that it’s too idealistic to want to be as active as possible with my blogs while also doing a hundred real-life things. I’m just a girl—and these blogs are a one-woman job. It’s exhausting… really. I can’t force myself to write every day without losing the very core of what makes me love writing in the first place.
So now I know I have to make an adjustment. I won’t lose myself by trying too hard. I will write when I have something to say. Rolife Coaster will be more like Tale Enthusiast—slow, in a way that still feels comforting.
In the meantime, I’m bringing back an old Instagram account of mine: @leftoversalad. It’s not a permanent replacement for my blogs (no social media can replace both my babies). But lately, I’ve been finding it soothing to post pictures and write captions. So rather than trying to channel my excitement elsewhere, let’s just treat this account as an outlet for camera-roll dumps, accompanied by some word salads that I hope won’t be too wordy or odd.
Cheers to a new era and a new creative outlet. Since I’m aiming for those old-school 2017 Instagram vibes, I hope you’ll still find it interesting enough to follow.
